After six nights of hot competition at the World Championship Campdraft held at the action-packed Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sadler came away equal second.
Joining a contingent of 16 drafters from across Australia, the talented local competitor was given the opportunity to compete at the championships held from March 23 to 28.
Positions were offered by the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) with competitors selected based on a recent high level of performance.
Sadler and his horse Tejano Spin scored equal second place with Andrew Chapman of Nundle on Digby, while Tamworth’s Hugh Mile’s secured first place with Peelvale Wishes.
“The atmosphere was really good down there,” Sadler said.
“The crowds got behind the event and there were good numbers.
“I joined a group of 16 competitors from areas such as Gresford, Maitland, Coolah, Tamworth, Nundle and Queensland and was the only competitor from the Upper Hunter.
“I was very pleased with the horse’s performance on the night.”
Sadler said the event rates right up there with one of his biggest achievements competitively to date.
“I had a pretty good year, competed in numerous campdrafts, won and placed in quite a few drafts through the year but was selected on Tejano Spin as she had accumulated 19.5 individual points in year end totals for the ABCRA,” he said.
“But this is right up there.”

Adam and Alison Sadler and family have lived on "Yarrawin” 12 kilometres north of Bunnan, west of Scone for four years.
Growing up in Aberdeen, Sadler has been drafting since the age of 10 and his success in Sydney follows a long history of competing in the sport he loves.
In 2001 he was awarded the ABCRA open rider of the year, accumulating over 300 points in one year and winning the ABCRA Rookie Horse with Reldas Bluestone.
In 2004, Sadler picked up third place in the Warwick Gold Cup against some 800 riders with horse Sadler’s Rebecca.
And, in 2016, he won the 2016 Maiden Series at the Australian Stock Horse Nationals with Platinum Charisma.
Sadler now turns his attention towards the Willinga Park World Championship Gold Buckle Campdraft next month.
