For the first time in history, the women’s 7s teams played for competition points.
A gala day was conducted for all five sides at the Pirates’ Chillingworth Oval with 10 games of sevens rugby.
The Scone squad travelled away with no reserves and played extremely hard for two wins and a couple of losses, placing it third on the leaderboard.
The female Brumbies accounted for Narrabri 7-0 and Gunnedah 20-7.
But, they were outclassed by Tamworth (24-7) and Inverell (22-12) on the same day.
The team consisted of Dominique Carter, Phoebe Moritz, Meg Huber, Lucy Prudden, Kiahara Duncan, Tayah Clout, Bridget Hunt and Sally Bowe as coach.
For some, the weekend marked the first time they have ever played rugby sevens.
The side is looking good this year and is sure to impress in future games.
From this gala day, and two other training and development sessions, the Central North representative team of 13 players was picked.
And, three Scone girls were chosen to attend the Country Championships in Warren on April 28 and 29.
Congratulations, and good luck, to Lucy Prudden, Meg Huber and Bowe.
