Belltrees, Aberdeen, Denman and Muswellbrook South raised $1000 – in gold coin donations – between them, which put a smile on coordinator Lauren Cartwright’s face.
“I’m very happy with the result,” the Muswellbrook South Public School teacher said.
“On top of that, Denman also sold 81 beanies at $20 each, which isn’t a bad effort for a small school.
“This cause is extremely close to my heart.
“My dad has brain cancer – and is doing as well as can be expected.
“I’m super grateful to the Mark Hughes Foundation; and its brain care nurses.
“They’ve helped greatly with my father.
“So, my thanks go to everyone who participated.”
Ms Cartwright is keen to see the Upper Hunter connection flourish in the future, too.
“Even though some of the schools have raised money for Beanies for Brain Cancer before, we’ve never coordinated it as a group,” she explained.
“I’m hoping to get more on board next year.”
The NRL’s Beanie for Brain Cancer round also will take place this weekend.
