The local squad braved the rain and freezing cold conditions, coming away undefeated in all three games in the Hunter round of the PSSA Classic Shield.
After a commanding performance, the boys defeated Wingham Public School 16-6, moving into the next round against Telarah Public School where they pulled off another strong win 26-4.
The last round saw them smash Biddabah Public School with an outstanding 34-0 triumph.
The performance now sees Scone Public School enter into the state finals. It’s a continuation of recent strong form, after the boys finished second in the state in the same competition last year.
The Scone Public School team will also face Valentine Public School in the Grand Final of the 2018 Knights Knockout at McDonald Jones Stadium on July 4.
Team manager Brooke Munn says the boys are hoping to back up last year’s win.
“If they win the Knights Knockout they head to Penrith for the All Schools Carnival,” she said.
“Our team also came second in that last year so the boys will definitely be trying to do the same in 2018.”
Congratulations to Scone Public School’s Campbell Munn, who has also been selected in the Hunter team to play at the NSWPSSA Open Rugby League carnival in Mudgee next week where they are up for selection for NSW.
