The talented teenager, who now attends the All Saints College St Mary’s Campus at Maitland, captained the NSW CCC (Combined Catholic Colleges) side to victory over NSW CHS (Combined High Schools) at Ned Byrne Field, Kingscliff.
NSW CCC claimed the Australian Secondary Schools 18 Years National Championships, thanks to the emphatic 28-14 win.
Madden played a starring role for the line-up, and booted four goals, in the decider.
And, to cap off a brilliant tournament, the young Newcastle Knight was chosen as the Player of the Championships.
It continues a phenomenal period for Madden, who led the NSW under-18s to a thrilling 16-10 triumph over Queensland in the State of Origin curtain-raiser at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in June.
When the Scone Advocate caught up with him last month, he admitted he had two major goals in 2018.
“I’m looking forward to taking the field for NSW CCC at the Australian Championships,” he said.
“And, I’d also like to stay in the Knights’ Jersey Flegg team for the rest of the season.”
The Australian squad will tour England later this year.
Meanwhile, Madden will link up with the Wests Tigers in 2019.
The NRL club signed him to its full-time squad as a development player in the top 36 for next year.
