Breezing their way through 2018 under the guidance of coach and club president Adam Whitley, the team had been praised for their sportsmanship which led to a 2-1 victory over Mayfield in extra-time last month.
That win saw them head into a grand final clash with Barnsley Football Club at Miller Park, Branxton on September 1.
The young footballers executed their job perfectly, coming away with a 3 to 1 victory.
“They were really happy with that effort, everyone basically took the field,” Whitely said.
“Everyone just went out and did what they trained for and got us across the line.
“There was a lot of parents and family members who made the early morning trip down for the game.”
Whitely said it’s been quite a while since the club has had a win with such a young squad.
Scone FC Mustangs Under-12s team consists of: Matthew Bates, Ethan Downton, Luc Bates, Braeden McCarthy, Declan Wintle, Angus Beard, Ben Baker, Josh Chopin, Quinn Thackeray, Sophie Baker, Matthew Byrne, Eleanor Wyndham, Finley Whitla and Owen Whitley (GK). Coach: Adam Whitely
The Scone Football Club also gears up to host an at-home gala and presentation day at the Bill Rose Sports Complex on the weekend.
The local competition will be held on Saturday September 8 from 9am to 2pm and will wrap up the club’s 2018 season.
