The NSW Swifts wing defence player captained the side alongside vice-captain Paige Hadley in 2017/18, though being forced to step away from the Super Netball in 2019 due to a serious knee injury.
In town as an ambassador for the NSW Department of Education’s Premier’s Sporting Challenge, McCulloch said the Scone Netball Association jumped on the offer to have her come down and host a series of training sessions.
“The department sent me up to the Hunter region for a few days, so I’ve just stopped off at a couple of schools and Scone is my destination for tonight.
“I was in Newcastle yesterday and Seaham and Dungog primary schools today and then I’ll be seeing Scone Public School tomorrow.”
The NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge encourages all students in public schools to be more active, more often by increasing their participation in sport and physical activity.
As part of the program, elite Australian sport representatives visit schools to promote the many benefits of being physically active and adopting healthy lifestyles.
“I just thought while I’m here it would be great to do a training session, because we don’t get up here often, we’re super busy down in Sydney.
“And they jumped on it which was awesome.
“The Premier's Sporting Challenge is all about being active and leading healthy lifestyles so tomorrow I’ll talk about eating healthy and setting goals.”
The youngsters also received a signed NSW Swifts poster after completing their training session.
