But, time is running out for “snappers” to enter the prestigious competition.

Talented lensmen and women from throughout the region have until October 15 to submit their nominations in a variety of categories – Best in Show, animals/wildlife, landscape/gardens, portraiture, open and people’s choice.  

The winners will then be announced at the opening night and awards ceremony at the Murrurundi RSL Club Hall on Friday, October 26, from 6pm.

Admission to that function is $5.

“The Arts & Crafts Prize was a terrific event – it boasted more than 85 artistic creations,” Murrurundi Arts and Crafts Council president Mandy Archibald said.

“So, we’re hoping to receive strong numbers for the Photo Prize, too.

“It’s open to photographers who reside in the following postcodes – 2328, 2329, 2333, 2336, 2337, 2338, 2339 and 2343.

“Works must not have been previously shown in any competition in Murrurundi.

“They have to be the originals from the photographer, may be in colour or black and white – and there are no boundaries to enhancements.

“Entrants can submit three works per section; and they’re all eligible for the Best in Show Award.

“The aim of our group is to encourage, nurture and promote artistic pursuits in Murrurundi and neighbouring districts.

“A big thanks must go to all of the sponsors – including AGL Macquarie, Carmyle Vet Services, Glenbrae, Boyd’s Creek and Barbara Morgan – as well.

“Without them, we couldn’t host this event.”

Exhibition dates for the Photo Prize are Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28; and Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, between 10am and 4pm at the Murrurundi RSL Club Hall in Mayne Street.
