The event is unique as it is the only 5-fish, boater-only, bass tournament in the country, due to the special permit it has been granted by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority to exceed the usual two-catch limit on bass.
Tournament director James Reid said he was excited to be moving the competition to the Upper Hunter this year said it’s a great place to hold the event.
“Glenbawn is a good fishery and especially this time of year it has a good reaction bait… the fish are very active this time of year due to the warming up of water,” he said.
They are expecting between 45 to 50 anglers which is an incredible turnout given the comp is only in it’s second year and has undergone a drastic change of location, although Mr Reid said the reward is worth it.
“It’s $550 entry and it’s 100 per cent pay back, so obviously first place will take a big chunk of that money and then it will taper off at a 1 in 5 ratio,” he said.
It will be held over the 20th and 21st of October, and is sure to bring a decent quantity of people through the streets of Scone throughout it’s duration.
