Member for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen re-endorsed as NSW Nationals candidate for 2019 State Election

MEMBER for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen has been re-endorsed as the NSW Nationals candidate for the 2019 State Election.

Mr Johnsen retained the party’s nomination in a pre-selection contest against Upper Hunter Shire councillor James Burns on Saturday.

“I want to thank the members for their continued support,” Mr Johnsen said.

“We’ve worked extremely hard together over the past four years and now we’re seeing the benefits with things like bypasses and hospitals.

“I’ve got a lot of wonderful plans for the Upper Hunter, but I need your support at the 2019 State Election to achieve those things for our community.”

NSW Nationals Chairman Bede Burke congratulated Mr Johnsen on the result and said he would continue to be a strong voice for the region in parliament.

“Michael understands the opportunities and challenges facing the Upper Hunter,” Mr Burke said.

“The focus of The Nationals is first and foremost on the people of our communities and I know that Michael will continue to be the strong voice for them in Parliament.”

Mr Johnsen will be contesting the seat against Country Labor’s Martin Rush and Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party’s Lee Watts and Greens’ Tony Lonergan in March.
