Scone Grammar Year 10 student Chloe Green was crowned victorious for her work ‘The Storybook Girl’, which was a fictional piece that explores concepts such as alternate realities and a broken family.
She said the win was rather unexpected, but believes her passion for writing translated into a gripping final product.
“I was really surprised when I won,” Chloe said.
“Sometimes when I read it’s like I’m entering the book itself, so I wanted to write something that represented the way I felt, too.”
The 16-year-old put a lot of effort into the offering, revealing she’d worked on it for approximately one week, but had been thinking of the idea since students got briefed about the theme.
She said it was an extremely awarding experience and encouraged other people to get involved because you never know where a hidden talent may come from.
