And, this week, the side will vie for the major title after beating fellow newcomers Scone Thoroughbreds 32-14 at Murrurundi’s Wilson Oval on Friday night.

The Colts now tackle the Merriwa Magpies in the 2018 grand final, while the Thoroughbreds face the Murrurundi Mavettes in the play-off between third and fourth.

Scone began brilliantly with Katherine Nicholson crossing for a terrific individual try in the opening minutes. Gracie Gallen converted for a 6-0 lead.

But, Greta Branxton responded with four-pointers to Brydie-Lee Forbes, Harmony Liddell and Brooke Davis, with Robyn Draper landing a goal, to hit the front 14-6.

Isabella Wright narrowed the gap to 14-10 before Davis crossed again for an 18-10 scoreline at the break.

The Colts then galloped ahead in the second stanza, with Carissa Norton, Taylor Quinton-Widl and Liddell adding further tries.

When Caitlin Albury kicked another goal, Greta Branxton led 32-10.

However, Scone did not surrender and, in the dying stages, Wright snared her second to finish the match at 32-14.
