December 14 marks their second last race meeting for 2018 and the club is opening their gates for the Community Christmas Twilight Party Race Day.
There is an eight-race card and plenty of entertainment planned on the night including live music by Burning Carrots (Carrot Bowen).
The music will kick off from 5.45pm and finish at 8pm and Santa is calling in to visit with face painting and a jumping castle for the kids.
Scone Race Club CEO Heath Courtney says everyone is welcome to come along with all entertainment free, including free entry.
“The function centre is fully booked out and we’ve got a few Christmas parties booked in also,” he said.
“There will also be a courtesy bus running from Scone.”
Gates open at 11am.
To finish up the year, Scone Race Club will hold their last race meeting for 2018 on Saturday December 29, which will be a family fun day with piglet racing, kid’s activities and more.
Courtney says he’s encouraging the community to come along and celebrate the end of the year before all eyes turn towards 2019 and the Darley Scone Cup Carnival on May 11 and 12.
“It’s our only weekend race meeting outside of Scone Cup Carnival,” he said.
“There will be about a 20 metre area set up for pig racing and we will run the races between horse races.
“So they’ll just do their little obstacle course and all the proceeds go to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
“For four of the races you’ll be able to buy tickets into the lottery for a pig and for the fifth race you’ll be able to buy a pig in the Calcutta.”
The club has secured sponsors for all the pigs and pig races, with prizes for winners.
“Again, all the kids activities will be free with water slides, jumping castles and more. Then we don’t race again until January 31.
“The big thing is that it’s our only weekend race day outside of carnival and probably a good reason for people to get outside the house between Christmas and New Years.”
There are still limited spots available at the function centre for December 29 for a buffet lunch.
“We’re expecting a pretty decent crowd on both days and both meetings are expected to have good acceptances.”
