For Scone Grammar School’s 2018 Dux Chloe Flanagan, the results were particularly pleasing, being named among the best-performing students in the state on the 2018 HSC student honour roll.
Chloe was the only student in Scone named on the Distinguished Achievers list, which recognises students who achieved a result in the highest band possible (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses.
She received an ATAR of 94.45, achieving a mark of 90 or above in Ancient History and Visual Arts, two Band 6s and three high Band 5s, missing out on a Band 6 for Advanced English and Geography by one mark.
Chloe said she is extremely pleased with the results and has already been accepted into a Bachelor of Psychology - Honours at the University of Wollongong.
She says she was drawn into psychology through an interest in people, the way people work and helping others.
“I actually came to Scone Grammar School mid-way through Year 9 from Scone High School, so it was big change,” she said.
“It’s been a great school, a great environment to learn and the best aspect has been the teachers and the effort they put in to support us.”
Scone Grammar School’s second highest achiever is Noah Folpp with an ATAR of 86.70, who is absolutely thrilled with his results and tossing up between studying Radiography or Communications at the University of Newcastle.
Scone Grammar School’s Principal Mr Paul Smart said the school is extremely proud of their HSC students who have worked very hard.
“Students received a Band 5 or Band 6 in 26 per cent of courses, and above a Band 4 in 51 per cent of the courses,” he said.
“There was strong, solid results across the board with quite a number of students already receiving Early Entry Offers into various universities.
“We are thrilled for all of them and wish them all the best.”
