It’s also a day to recognise the hard-working people that make our communities so great.
This Australia Day, award ceremonies will be held across the region with presentations in Aberdeen, Cassilis, Murrurundi and Scone.
The Australia Day Ambassadors will share their stories and help to present the Australia Day awards in each region for Community Group, Citizen and Young Citizen, Achiever and Young Achiever of the year and more. In Merriwa there are also awards for Sustainability in Business and Environmental Achievement.
The Upper Hunter Shire Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen, are chosen from the town winners.
