Upper Hunter Shire Council is holding a networking and presentation event at 6pm on Tuesday March 26 at the Scone RSL Club.
Operations and Innovations Manager for 'Why Leave Town' promotions Ashley Watt will be speaking about practical ways to encourage people to shop locally.
Participants will learn about the success of this program in other regional towns and more importantly the issues facing small to medium businesses across Australia, from a shop local perspective.
'We LIVE Here' gift cards, a joint initiative of Upper Hunter Shire and Muswellbrook Councils, are now available to be purchased and used to buy goods and services at participating local businesses.
The cards help keep money in our local area assisting many businesses that have felt the financial impact of the drought, and allowing charities to give financial support to farmers and others in need who can decide how they use it.
The presentation will be followed by a networking opportunity to provide feedback.
Light refreshments and appetizers will be served from 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
FREE bookings are essential to secure a seat and for catering purposes, book online at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/think-shop-buy-local-scone-tickets-57354989317
This event is funded by the Federal Government's Drought Communities Program.
