Hosted by president of the Aberdeen RSL sub-branch Judy Lanyon, this year the service had the presence of New England MP Barnaby Joyce and Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen, who laid wreaths.
Later in the day, hundreds packed the main street for an Anzac Day march followed by a commemorative service and lunch hosted by the Aberdeen RSL and Citizens Club.
The service had strong community representation with groups such as Aberdeen Junior Rugby League, Aberdeen Primary School, St Joseph's High School Aberdeen, the Australian Red Cross, SES Services, Lions Club, Men's Shed, Hunter Valley police, Upper Hunter Shire Councillor Lorna Driscol and Aberdeen Fire Brigade attending.
Frank Daley Junior led the march on horseback followed by a brass band and for the second year in a row, the service featured a catafalque party and flag bearers from the 12/16 Hunter River Lancers.
