An evening of rain and the tireless work of ground staff set a great stage for the much-anticipated clash with the Inverell Highlanders.
The Highlanders made the tough trip down to the Upper Hunter in a bid to continue their winning form after a hard-fought victory against Gunnedah in the week prior.
However, Scone were able to hold off a second half comeback by the Highlanders to record the Brumbies' first victory, 37-17.
Scone once again displayed impressive first half form, scoring 25 points by the half time whistle.
Tries to Jack Thomas, Doug Mackillop and Harry Morrow were pivotal in placing scoreboard pressure on Inverell.
Sam Casson was also able to add to the score with the boot as Scone opted to take penalty goals in the late stages of the first half.
Coach Chris Comerford praised Scone's first half defence keeping Inverell scoreless.
Inverell came out with a surge of energy in the second half, making sure they were first to cross the white line.
It was clear that Inverell were not going to let Scone continue have the game played on their terms in front of a home crowd for the final forty minutes.
However, Scone were able to fend off a determined Inverell side with clever field positioning and a dominant set piece.
Alex pay impressed with his directional play and decision making, while returning lock Lance Forbes was unrivaled in his line-out dominance.
This week sees Scone do battle with the reigning premiers, Tamworth Pirates.
The Scone Cup Carnival means the game times have been amended to 9:00 am for Reserve Grade and 10:45 am for First Grade to allow both teams to enjoy the festivities at the races later that afternoon.
On Saturday the 18th of May, the Scone Brumbies will do battle with local rivals Quirindi in what should be a great day of rugby.
This will be the Brumbies' first themed home game of the season, "Family Day".
The Club would like to extend an invitation to all families to attend what is sure to be a fantastic day.
