Changed traffic conditions on New England Highway at Scone for bridge girder delivery

ROADS and Maritime Services are advising motorists of changed traffic conditions from Thursday on the New England Highway at Scone as part of work for the bypass.

Between six and eight bridge girders will be transported daily from the project compound north of Scone, travelling along the New England Highway/Kelly Street and Liverpool Street for delivery to the Parsons Gully Bridge alignment.

Each girder weighs 45 tonnes and is 27 metres long.

During this operation Roads and Maritime Services will transport 78 of the 120 bridge girders needed for the Parsons Gully Bridge, which is 540 metres long.

Work will start on Thursday May 16 and will be carried out between 6am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays until July, weather permitting.

Traffic control and vehicle escorts will be in place to minimise disruptions and ensure safety.

To reduce impacts, to motorists, vehicle movements will be avoided during morning and afternoon peak traffic periods.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
