That was the sentiment of Scone Golf Club president Gordon Halliday at the launch of the new $4 million development on Saturday.
Club members, and patrons, finally tested out the layout after a couple of setbacks in recent months.
"It's a big day for us," Mr Halliday said.
"Although it's been a little while coming, it's certainly worth the wait."
The new course includes a fully-automated irrigation system, on site bore and two enlarged ponds storing treated water.
It has natural features like gullies and mature Red River Gums, as well as the thousands of plants that have been put in, which has improved the diversity and ecology of the site.
There is a ticketing machine at the first hole, which accepts cards and cash, too.
"We could see the quality of the design from the start," Mr Halliday said.
"It's already rated by Golf NSW as 127, which is similar to Muswellbrook.
"It is an outstanding course for the district.
"However, it will also be a major asset for the town moving forward.
"Not just for the locals, but for visitors as well.
"When the Scone Bypass is complete, this course will be very well-positioned."
Upper Hunter Shire Council, which took over the management from contractor McMahons Golf on Wednesday, is also thrilled with final outcome.
"It looks a treat," manager special projects Alan Fletcher said.
"The tees and greens have been built to US PGA standards; there's CCTVs installed, as well as a ticketing machine.
"It's all state-of-the-art."
From Monday, June 3, the Scone Golf Course fees will be:
* 9 holes - adults $15, juniors (under 18 years) $5, pensioners and concession card holders $10
* 18 holes - adults $25, juniors $10, pensioners and concession card holders $15
