Belltrees Public hosts another successful small schools public speaking competition

THE Upper Hunter might soon have another politician in its midst if the annual small schools public speaking competition is anything to go by.

Belltrees Public School conducted the popular event last Thursday - with some outstanding results registered by the talented young pupils.

Students from Ellerston, Blandford, Murrurundi, Martindale, Sandy Hollow and the host educational facility participated in the day.

Belltrees' Audrey Scott took out the early stage 1 category from runner-up Brandyn Craig (Ellerston).

The encouragement award went to Trixy Perez (Belltrees).

In stage 1, Ellerston duo Bridget McLoughlin (winner) and Rosemary Baker (runner-up) shone.

Martindale's Adelaide Richards picked up the encouragement award.

The spoils were shared among the schools in stage 2.

Lucas Grimes (Ellerston) claimed the honours from Blandford's Macarthur Bettington.

Renzy Perez (Belltrees) collected the encouragement award.

Ellerston dominated stage 3 with Grace Grainger (winner), Archie Mamone (runner-up) and Blake Grimes (encouragement) prevailing.

"Thank you to our adjudicators Lee Watts (Upper Hunter Shire Council), Eliza Goetze (ABC Radio), Michael Richardson (Scone High School), Peter White (Belltrees Pastoral Co.), Pat Molyneux and Karen Rayner," Belltrees Public School's administration manager Liz Batterham said.

"Congratulations to our winners and runners up who will compete at Muswellbrook South Public School on Wednesday."
