SCONE Bowling Club recently took on the best Grade 3 teams from around NSW at the State Pennant Titles which were held in Tamworth.
Qualification was gained after finishing top of what was a strong Zone competition.
Scone were placed in a tough pool consisting of St. George's Basin, Asquith and Armidale City.
The first game was against St. George's Basin and a strong start allowed Scone to come away with a 9-1 victory with a master board margin of Plus 23.
The second pool match was against Asquith.
The match was a tight affair throughout with Scone being able to kick away towards the end to score another 9-1 win and master board margin of Plus 12.
The final pool game was against a very strong Armidale City team.
Despite Scone's best efforts, went down 9-1 with a master board margin of minus 19.
This result meant that Scone finished second in their pool on for against and progressed through to the quarter finals.
They were drawn up against a formidable opponent in Camden and knew they had to bowl at their absolute best just to be competitive.
Scone obliged and played an incredible all-round team performance to take the master board by a margin of 7 and book a spot in the semifinals.
The semi final saw Scone play Yamba.
It was a tight affair throughout the match with game going right down to the wire.
Unfortunately for Scone they fell short by an agonizing 2 shots on the master board.
