The under-12s, who are in their first year together as a team, finished third on the ladder and take on Valentine at Wallsend on Saturday in the elimination showdown.

Scone's under-13s, who secured the minor premiership, tackle rivals Barnsley at Muswellbrook in the grand final qualifier.

The under-15s and all-age sides narrowly missed their respective play-offs.

Both teams maintained their chance of snaring a berth right up to the last round of 2019.

However, some unfavourable results in the all-age saw Scone knocked out of the top four, despite a strong 4-0 finish in their final hit-out.

The under-15s needed to win their match and managed an early 1-0 lead.

But, they conceded a late goal before a penalty finished off their hopes.

An injury-plagued season for the under-18s kept their standings towards the bottom of the table.

The under-10s and under-11s also had strong campaigns, only losing one won competition game each throughout the year.

"For a small town, Scone punches well above its weight and football is no exception," Mustangs president Adam Whitley said.

"Interdistrict has a solid year and, most importantly, we continue to grow.

"Next year we will have additional junior teams competing in the Hunter Valley Football interdistrict competitions.

"We've also been privileged to receive the support of some very generous sponsors who are willing to commit into the future.

"We have put together a grants committee to proactively seek funding, so we can bring our facilities up to standard and, maybe, actually host some of our own finals."

But, that will just have to wait, because at the moment, all the attention is on preparing the under-12s and under-13s for a successful finals tilt.
