Now, they have a presence in the Upper Hunter, with the first ever Bucking Bull Show coming to Murrurundi on Saturday October 19.
Murrurundi Bucking Bull Show organiser Andrew Swain from just over the hill at Willow Tree said the aim of the event, run under the ABBI, is to showcase the best young bulls the country has to offer.
"They're all young bulls, no older than four-years-old," he said.
"They buck with a remote controlled dummy for four seconds. I'm involved in it myself so I decided to run something in Murrurundi."
The competition will aim to bring in the big bucks in more ways than one as it doubles as a fundraiser for Murrurundi charity Cowboys for Cancer.
The Foundation is run by Murrurundi local Glen 'Dodger' Shepherd and supports cowboys who did their time on the rodeo circuit through their struggles with cancer.
Dodger's network also aims to buck the trend and stigma surrounded by the disease with an annual cowboys reunion that brings old mates together and encourages them to open up about their struggles.
"I chose Dodge (Cowboys for Cancer Foundation) because it's involved with the rodeo side of things and I thought it was a great cause to give the money to," Mr Swain said.
The money will be raised through entry fees, sponsorship and a bar and barbecue although the event is free to the public.
"There should be around 50 bulls there on the day coming from as far north as Central Queensland and as far south as The Riverina," Mr Swain said.
"The event is a great opportunity to give bull riders the chance to bring their bulls along and get them ready for the big events so they learn the ropes coming through."
Mr Swain gave a special thanks to all sponsors who have contributed to make the event possible and also gave special mention to major sponsor Guy Rando Earth Moving Murrurundi.
If you want to witness the fast-paced action, gates open at 10am at the Rosedale Complex, Murrurundi on Saturday October 19.
