It's Bulky Waste pick-up time. For some, this is an opportunity to get rid of that stuff just sitting in the garage or spare room, that has no value to you and is just filling a hole in the space of said rooms. For others it is a chance to peruse the discarded chattels of your fellow citizens and find that piece of treasure that was someone else's garbage. You may not fit into either of these spaces and just see it as the time of year when people pile up junk outside their house for Council to pick up. What a diverse range we are. But for this programme to work there has to be some rules that are simple and not hard to follow.

Rule one: DIVIDE YOUR WASTE INTO FOUR PILES of garden organics, electronics, metals and bulky household items. This enables Council to keep recyclables out of the landfill.
Rule two: KEEP OUR FOOTPATHS TIDY. Keep the volume of waste to one box trailer and make sure the piles don't block the footpath. Loose materials should be tied so that they don't become windblown litter. If you are looking for a treasure in someone else's trash, please do not make a mess of the piles. Our towns are in enough strife with aesthetics with the drought, we don't need junk strewn all over the place to add to that.
Rule three: NO HAZARDOUS OR DANGEROUS MATERIALS. Don't place that old drum of sulphuric acid or asbestos the curb. While there, kids and silly adults could do themselves a mischief. So if you do have anything that needs disposing of that may be dangerous please contact Council and the Staff can assist you.
Rule four: IF YOU CAN'T LIFT IT, IT CAN'T GO OUT. The teams that will do the collections are heroes but not superhuman, so if it is unsafe they cannot pick it up. If you have something that is that heavy it might be worth something. I suggest you utilise local market place sites on Facebook. You never know you might profit from it.
Place your waste on the curb on 19/20th October if you live in Scone and on the 26/27th October if you live in Aberdeen, Murrurundi, Merriwa, Blandford, Bunnan, Cassilis, Gundy, Moonan, Parkville and Wingen.
