HOT and windy weather has seen an increase in fire activity at the bushfire burning in the Goulburn River National Park south-west of Merriwa.

The Meads Creek West fire has been burning for the past week at Advice level, but was upgraded to Emergency level on Friday afternoon and is burning in a north-easterly direction towards Merriwa.
Fire crews have been working on the ground, assisted by water bomber aircraft to keep containment lines in place.The fire has burnt through more than 9,500 hectares.
The fire is burning towards the area of Tunbridge. NSW RFS has advised that if you are in the area of Tunbridge, you are at risk and should seek shelter as the fire approaches.
If you are in the areas along the Merriwa River, including Cullingral Road, the RFS advises you to monitor conditions, take advice from firefighters in the area and follow your bush fire survival plan.
If you are threatened by the fire, protect yourself from the heat by wearing protective clothing and footwear and cover all exposed skin.
