Friday's severe danger rating saw the bushfire - which is burning in the Goulburn River National Park south-west of Merriwa - status rise to "emergency" on December 6.

However, it's now at "advice" level on Saturday, December 7, after homes along Tunbridge Road were actively defended in the past 24 hours.

"The fire is currently at 9745 hectares in size - and being controlled," NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS) Mudgee public liaison officer Inspector Jillian Butler said.

"Firefighters will continue to work towards containing the blaze above the Goulburn River; and between Policeman's Track and Ringwood Road.

"The northern side of the fire is still quite active and it's being attacked by grounds crew and aircraft as it comes out into open country.

"Just monitor the conditions in your area.

"Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan.

"If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.

"Leaving early is your safest option."

This fire is at 2428 hectares in size and is being controlled. Firefighters continue to work on holding the fire to the current footprint and are being supported with earth-moving machinery.

This fire is at 32,744 hectares in size and remains out of control. The fire is continuing to move in an easterly direction to the northern part of the Putty Valley (Gum Tree Hole, Kindarun Hut the Forest vicinity). Fire is five kilometres south-west of Raspberry Junction. It is burning in very high fire danger conditions and is currently less than two hours from properties. Under these conditions, fires can be difficult to control. Embers may be blown ahead of the fire, creating spot fires. These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.
