On a likely very heavy track on February 18, with a stack of chances in most races, Charlotte's Heart resumes off two typical controlled trials in the Class 4 Country Championship Preview over 1280m for form trainer/rider duo Brett Cavanough and Keagan Latham.
Despite all four wins from only 12 starts - including a dominant Highway performance at Randwick last winter - coming on firm ground, Charlotte's Heart is by prolific wet track sire Show A Heart out of a Danehill mare who also performed well on rain-affected ground.
But, in a big field of high-class country and provincial gallopers, many resuming off smart work at the trials, this will be an exotic punter's paradise.
Newcastle pair tough six-year-old All From Scrap and resuming four-year-old Great Danger, well-performed Tamworth gelding Beauty Best, resuming Scone mare Emanuela, talented Wyong mare Belle De Vega who also resumes off two nice trials, and consistent local mare Trophies Galore, all have winning claims.
Earlier, progressive three-year-old Holy Sunday will be out to take the next big step up in distance in a BM 58 Hcp over 1750m for Randwick trainer John Sargent.
An outstanding maiden winner fourth-up at Scone powering home from the back, Holy Sunday steps into unchartered wet track territory, but the breeding might help punters rest easy.
By the Irish stallion Holy Roman Emperor out of a Zabeel mare whose only three career wins from 16 starts all came on Soft 7 ratings.
As long as the speed up front is solid from the half mile, Holy Sunday can launch home again and set his sights on a first metropolitan start.
