The Scone Red Cross has set up a community book trolley out the front of their shop at 102 Kelly Street and is encouraging locals to 'take a book, read a book, donate a book'.
Scone Red Cross liaison officer Jill Hush said the community library is for everyone from adults to children.
"Locals can come and take books for free, bring them back if they want and swap them for some other ones," she said.
"We'd just like the community to know that the trolley is there for everyone and will be based out the front of our Red Cross Op Shop at all times."
The beautiful wooden trolley was fashioned by the men at the Upper Hunter Men's Shed, who as always, were eager to assist.
"We have so many books available so we will be putting the good quality books out," Ms Hush said.
"Any books that come in that aren't up to a certain standard we recycle but these are all really good valuable books, whether it be fiction, practical, there's loads of children's books also.
"I'd encourage anybody that has an interest to pop in.
"We want to keep the love of reading going in the town."
