The scholarship, now in its 13th year, offers a $10,000 cash component to support further career development, a unique opportunity to gain experience in the fast-paced media centre at the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show and two internships with renowned media outlets, the ABC's Landline and The Land newspaper. Despite the shift online, RASF Manager Cecilia Logan says regional and rural Australia still needs strong voices to share their stories.
"The JB Fairfax Award provides an invaluable opportunity to network and gain hands-on experience across a broad range of regional media forms," Mrs Logan said.
"The rural media landscape is constantly changing, however, the need for enthusiastic advocates who will share the stories of regional and rural Australia is more important than ever."
"I encourage all budding journalists, media and communications students to apply and become a strong voice for those who need it most."
Applications for the first stage of the 2021 JB Fairfax Award for Regional & Rural Journalism and Communications closes August 16, the successful recipient will be announced in early 2021.Interested applicants are encouraged to visit www.rasf.org.au to find out more about the scholarship and to complete the online application form.
