UPPER Hunter Youth Council's support for the 2020 Vinnie's Virtual Sleepout raised donations of household goods now being distributed through Upper Hunter Homeless Support, Murrurundi Doing It For Our Farmers Pop-Up Pantry, the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre, and Vinnie's Merriwa.

More than 20 students took part in the annual event - and helped deliver the items to the agencies who will distribute them to those in need.
The 2020 sleepout was done a little differently due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
Young people participated by sleeping on their lounge, the floor, outside in swags and even on a cardboard box.
"It got really cold around 12am, so I moved inside on to the mat," a Youth Council member Anna Lloyd said.
"It's so sad how people my age have to sleep outside especially in winter."
The Upper Hunter Youth Council chose to support the sleepout fundraiser as 43 per cent of the homeless in Australia are under 25.
Donations of pantry items were received from Denman Lions Club, Scone Grammar School, who raised donations through an "out of uniform" day, and Upper Hunter Shire residents.
Local businesses including Merriwa Pharmacy and Life Of Pie Murrurundi helped collect the goods.
