IT was a hot day for the lady golfers at Scone on Thursday September 17 when the locals welcomed eight visitors from Muswellbrook for the second round of the Interclub Challenge.

A field of 22 played an 18 Hole Stableford for prizes generously sponsored by Muswellbrook Pro Shop.
The round of the day was by Dordie Bragg who finished with 41 points and thus take home the winner's prize.
Visitor Lindis Durham also had a good round with 38 points to be the runner up. Extra prizes were on offer for the best front nine and the best back nine and these went to Kathy Robinson with 20 and Nikki O'Driscoll with 21 points.
The ball winners were: Dordie Bragg 41, Lindis Durham 38, Julie Leckie, Sarah Howey, Beryl Taylor 36, Kathy Robinson 35, Sheree Piskorz, Cheryl Clydsdale 34, Nikki O'Driscoll 33, Barb Hunter and Dinie Bishop 32 points on a countback from Pam Minch and Lyn Banks.
In the Interclub Challenge the best six scores from each club were counted. Muswellbrook had a 17 point lead after Round 1.
The Scone aggregate in Round 2 allowed a win on the day but did not cut the deficit overall, with Muswellbrook winning the trophy for 2020 by 8 points. The players enjoyed the friendly rivalry and sharing a round together, and look forward to the event next year.
On Saturday September 19, a fabulous field of 54 players contested an 18 Hole Stableford event in warm conditions.
A welcome breeze became a bit stronger as the day progressed. The sponsors of the day were the Saturday Lady Golfers.
The scores were excellent with morning player Dan Malone having a fantastic 46 points to win the first place prize. Second prize went to visitor Jacob Gaffey who had an enjoyable morning finishing with 45 points.
In third place was Annie Woods who had 42 points but she re-donated the prize to Tony Pringle who had 40 points.

The green keeping staff had a difficult time recently managing the rough due to a breakdown of the rough mower.
This made conditions challenging for the midweek players. Fortunately, a mower was able to be borrowed and the staff then worked tirelessly on Friday and Saturday to get the course back into shape.
In the Wednesday competition a smaller field than usual played in the 18 Hole Stableford. The winner was Ross Banks on 38 points.
Ball winners were Ross Banks 38, Brendan King, Charlie Wintle 36, Kyle Smith 35, Jake Teague, Dan Malone 34 and Graham White 33 points on a countback from Jock O'Connor & Glen Tarrant.
On Thursday September 24 a good field has entered the ladies inaugural 4BBB Nett Championship sponsored by Scone Sports Store.
On Saturday September 25 the Whitehead Family will sponsor an 18 Hole Individual Stableford and 2Ball Multiplier for the Jason Whitehead Memorial Day.
Coming events to note for the Scone golfing calendar are the Mixed Foursomes Championship to be played on Sunday October 11, to be followed by the men's Club Championships to be played over four rounds on the weekends of October 17 and 18, and 24 and 25.
