"We are very excited to be working with the Upper Hunter Shire Council to build an ability park for the community and visitors," SNRC manager Lee Watts said.
New additions include an all-abilities flying fox with additional mulch soft-fall, musical instruments, and an all-abilities access ramp to the main structure with additional rubber soft-fall underneath. The playground is near the netball courts
"The new pieces will complement the existing playground, seating and barbecues located at the Bill Rose Sporting Complex and will be an attraction for children and their families," Ms Watts said.
The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre received $121,000 in funding from the State Government's My Community Project grant which was originally awarded for a splash pad at Amaroo Park in 2019, however was reallocated due to the costs involved in treating and recycling the water being unviable.
Stage 1 of the playground is complete with stage 2 currently underway.
Lee Watts, Michael Johnsen MP and Mayor Maurice Collison will attend the opening at 4pm on Tuesday, December 8 at the Bill Rose Sporting Complex.
