The Live Life Get Active camps are held at 5.30pm daily at the Singleton Heights Sports Centre for everyone 18 years and over. There is no joining fee, no class fee and a free tailored nutrition plan is provided for those who sign on.
The classes are led by fitness instructor Lauren Short of Heart of the Hunter.
Cross-training classes are being offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, with boxing classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. Classes run for 45 minutes and all equipment is provided.
Lauren is currently looking for a yoga instructor for Friday sessions, also starting at 5.30pm.
She said Belgravia Leisure has kindly donated the use of its grounds outside at Singleton Heights Sports Centre for the classes.
Live Life Get Active is a registered health promotion charity that specifically looks at addressing health, fitness and happiness issues facing people today. Issues such as obesity, diabetes, mental health, and illness recovery.
Live Life Get Active also seeks to address the growing issue of social disconnection by bringing all sorts of people together and providing them with a sense of belonging in a welcoming environment. It does this by offering both online and in-park support to its members.
Jane Flemming is the founding director and ambassador for LLGA. She is one of Australia's best known Olympic Champions and Commonwealth Games double gold medalist.
Lauren has lived and worked in London for more than eight years, previously working in credit management for legal firms and student education in London and Sydney.
She moved back to the Hunter Valley two years ago to be closer to family, especially her 'pop' who has dementia.
During COVID, she had a career change and studied a certificate IV in fitness and completed a business course. "I have always had a passion for health and fitness and have completed my boxing certification through the Australian Combat and Exercise in Sydney," she said. "I am also an accredited mental health first aider."
