Matthew Hay has been announced as the captain coach of the Tigers' first grade team after an 'outstanding year' in 2021.
Tigers club secretary Jeanette Fitzimmons said Hay had been a mentor to the club's younger players transitioning to senior football and had genuinely embraced the culture at the club.
"His immediate focus will be securing the services of our younger Tiger players for the 2022 season and beyond," she said.
Hay's footballing resume includes stints with the Newcastle Knights from u17s to reserve grade, playing for the Newcastle All Stars and winning a grand final in the Newcastle first grade with the Macquarie Scorpions in 2017.
Meanwhile, Sean Millwood has been appointed as the captain coach of the 2022 Tigers reserve grade team.
Millwood has played in seven Hunter Valley Group 21 grand finals, winning the premiership on four occasions.
He was also awarded the Group 21 Reserve Grade Player of the Year in 2019 and is a life member of Aberdeen Tigers RLFC.
Albert Albury has also been appointed to coach the Tiger's 2022 ladies league touch team.
Alongside captain coach Kelsey French, Albury led the Tigers in the 2021 Hunter Valley Group 21 LLT competition, nearly making the finals for the first time before the season was cancelled.
The Hunter Valley Bengalla Croup 21 competition has not crowned a grand final winner since the Scone Thoroughbreds won the 2019 competition due to the 2020 and 2021 seasons being cancelled due to ongoing COVID restrictions.
"We would like to thank all clubs, participants, officials and volunteers for their participation in what has been a fantastic 2021 season," Group 21 chairperson Simon Walmsley said on announcing the cancellation of the 2021 season in September.
"We have had a great season and have been very fortunate to get as much of the season in that we have."
The Tigers are still planning to hold their 2021 awards night this year, subject to COVID restrictions.
