One of the world’s leading contemporary art events, The Biennale of Sydney, has given the first glimpse into what its 2022 program will look like.
Previous venue Cockatoo Island will no longer be used with more action coming inland with the list of venues including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Circular Quay, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, National Art School, The Rocks and more.
The Biennale will also be increasing its presence around the harbour, with exhibitions at The Cutaway at Barangaroo Reserve.
The 23rd Biennale will be themed around bodies of water, but the full program will not be available until February, although some highlights have been revealed. These include: Space In Between, a series of self-guided walks through Biennale venues; Building Blocks, which is a three-hour dining and talk experience about what’s behind the art process; and Gesture, which involves Angie Goto and Sue Jo Wright, two deaf artists guiding audiences through their exhibition using only their bodies and gestures.
