Snake catchers in Tweed Heads were called in to break up a battle between two males snakes vying for love.

The two coastal carpet pythons came crashing through the linen cupboard of a Murwillumbah home, resulting in an intertwined struggle on the floor.

The cause of the slippery struggle was believed to be a female snake in the roof, causing the snakes to face off for her affection.

The snake catchers from I'll Catch It Snake Relocations in Tweed Heads posted the encounter to their Facebook page, adding that the female resident of the house was happy to let the female remain in the roof for rodent control purposes.

The company also added that this time of year is quite common for these passionate battles for love, having had several callouts over the last few days involving males fighting for female attention.
