Transport for NSW recently completed a review in response to requests from the community and, as a result, the speed limit will be reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h on a 485-metre section of the lane and from 80 km/h to 60 km/h, on a further 1.4km section.
The 100 km/h reduction to 80 km/h will start from 80 metres north of Dartbrook Road and continue to 165 metres south of Stair Street (the road name changes from Blairmore Lane to Kayuga Road after the intersection with Dartbrook Road) while the reduction from 80 km/h to 60 km/h will apply from 50 metres west of the New England Highway to 1.4km west of the New England Highway.
The changes are expected to add about 23 seconds to travel times along this road.
There have been no fatalities on this road in the past 12 months.
The speed zone review was carried out to ensure speed limits are in line with the NSW Speed Zoning Standard, applying the Safe System Approach.

The Safe System approach has been adopted by all Australian jurisdictions to support road safety outcomes in jurisdictional and national road safety action plans.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control during the installation of signage.
A speed zone review is a comprehensive process that includes site inspections, analysis of the current road environment and road condition, consideration of crash data and traffic volumes.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the safety of motorists and community members was the top priority of the NSW Government.
"Electronic message signs will be installed on Blairmore Lane before and after the changes come into effect and there will be community notices via local councils to advise motorists of the new speed limit," the spokesperson said
"Streets are not just about moving people and goods - they also interact with places where people live, work and spend time. All these aspects are considered when setting new speed limits.
"Speed limits are set to ensure motorists travel at a safe and appropriate speed for the surrounding road environment, and to allow time for drivers travelling at the limit to detect a hazard and react quickly enough to brake or take evasive action.
"We thank the community for its understanding."
