Hair and lots of it fell to the floor on Friday as part of World’s Greatest Shave fun and festivities at Scone High School.
For most of the students brave enough to shave, it was more an act of charity than rebellion.
Year 7 student Jasmine Burgess said she was keen on a new hairstyle.
“I was getting really annoyed with my hair so decided to get my pony tail chopped off.
“It’s good that it will be used to make wigs for people going through chemo.”
Year 9 student Jack Peterson said he was keen on a new ‘do’ too.
“Might as well try everything once, but I think my head is going to be a bit cooler now,” he said.
Year 11 student Chloe Ducey said she had been looking forward to getting it shaved off for a while.
“It’s the right thing to do.
“I like the thought of having my hair cut to help someone else,” she said.
Year 11 student Luke Morris shaved his wild blonde ‘fro’ that had been teased to great effect on Friday much to the delight of onlooking students.
“I did it for a free cut – that and it’s a good cause,” he said.
Year 11 advisor Crystal Davis said the students had done a great job raising funds for people with leukaemia.
"Three students shaved their hair on Friday, but we also held a sausage sizzle and fashion parade to see who had the best hair do.
“The students raised over $2000 which is an excellent effort,” she said.
