The Scone Grammar School students are currently training hard for the upcoming spring regattas.
As a part of their training the team recently travelled to Morpeth Rowing Centre to train with NSW Rowing development officer Allan Bennett.
This included coaching on and off the water, rowing ergometer work, breakfast and lunch.
Scone Grammar School teacher Nick Price said the Endeavour Rowing Club have been extremely supportive of their school, lending them boats and oars at the regattas they have attended as well as some of their club members racing with Scone students.
“Luke Budworth and club captain Di McShane took time off work to assist us on our coaching day and we are very grateful for their help and guidance.
“We were blessed with magical, flat water and great weather, which added to the success of the day,” Price said.
“Our rowers were split into two groups with our more experienced rowing in doubles and singles and our less experienced in quads and doubles.
“The two sessions on the water allowed for some positive individual feedback on technique supported by drills to assist with improvement,” he said.
“Our rowers were also put through their paces on the rowing ergs with information on technique and a racing relay.”
All students enjoyed the experience and gained some helpful hints to assist with their rowing technique.
Price said they are enthusiastic about their rowing and a pleasure to work with and take away.
