THERE was a touch of glitz and glamour at the Senior Citizen’s Centre on Friday night.
With the Academy Awards just a day or two away, Scone Films hosted a special Oscar function by screening the highly-acclaimed The Dressmaker, which stars Kate Winslet, Judy Davis and Liam Hemsworth.
More than 100 movie-lovers walked down the red carpet and enjoyed champers and nibblies on arrival.
“We wanted to do something to tie in with the Oscars,” Catherine Boulton said.
“And, the event sold out very quickly – we’ve had to turn people away.
“I’m sure everyone will love The Dressmaker.
“It’s about a glamorous woman who returns to her small town in rural Australia.
“With her sewing machine and haute couture style, she transforms the women and exacts sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.”
