INVERELL was the destination for Scone Swimming Club members recently when the two-day 2016 New England and North West Area Championships were held.
Qualifying times had to be met to enter the event.
Competition was strong, with some of the fastest swimmers in the area, which stretches from Denman to Glen Innes, Tenterfield to Mungindi, racing in a bid to reach state and national events.
Ebony Taylor earned herself New England and North West Area girl champion for 16 years and over, while Clinton Whitehead was boy 16 years and over runner-up.
Indyana Taylor claimed the girls 14 years runner-up.
Finalist results from the championships include: Joshua Chopin- Boys 8 year and under- 3rd 50m Freestyle, 3rd 50m Backstroke.
Andrew Crowther- Boys 8 year and under- 4th 50m Butterfly, 5th 50m Backstroke, 4th 50m Breaststroke.
Ethan Jones- Boys 8 year and under- 2nd 50m Freestyle, 2nd 50m Backstroke, 6th 50m Breaststroke.
George Patterson- Boys 8 year and under -2nd 50m Breaststroke.
Max Patterson- Boys 9 year- 4th 50m Butterfly, 3rd 100m Breaststroke, 5th 50m Freestyle, 6th 100m Freestyle, 6th 50m Backstroke, 2nd 50m Breaststroke.
Daniel Crowther - Boys 9 year -5th 50m Butterfly, 4th 100m Breaststroke, 5th 200m IM, 4th 50m Breaststroke.
Joshua Crowther- Boys 10 year-4th 50m Butterfly, 5th 100m Breaststroke, 3rd 50m Freestyle, 6th 200m IM. Nicholas Adkins-Boys 11 year -5th 100m Breaststroke.
Indyana Taylor- Girls 14 year- 4th 50m Butterfly, 2nd 100m Breaststroke, 4th 50m Freestyle, 4th 200m IM, 4th 100m Freestyle, 3rd 50m Backstroke, 2nd 50m Breaststroke, 4th 100m Backstroke.
Kade Whitehead- Boys 15 year - 5th 50m Butterfly, 5th 100m Breaststroke, 4th 50m Breaststroke.

Ilisa Whitehead, Amelia Harris, Caitlyn Jones and Charlotte Chopin were also part of the Scone representative team, achieving significant personal best times on the day.
