IT’S not every day that you get to play against one of your mates in a grand final.
That is what’s facing Scone juniors Jock Madden and Harry Duggan as they line-up on opposite sides in the Harold Matthews Cup decider this weekend.
Madden has been part of the Newcastle Knights’ squad while Duggan pulled on the Parramatta Eels jersey during the under-16s competition.
The St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen, students will play on Saturday at Pepper Stadium, Penrith.
Front-rower Duggan believes it will be an interesting experience.
“I’m pretty nervous; I know most of those boys playing for Newcastle so it should be a good game,” he said.
“[The competition] is a lot different and has really helped me to develop my skills further.”
In a further boost for Scone junior rugby league, three players have been selected to play for the under-16s Greater Northern Tigers at Scully Park on the weekend.
They are Ben Fechner, Jordan Allan, and Mitchell Dykes.
