It is expected that any announcement would include a draft design for the Scone rail overpass.
This part will no doubt require additional community consultation.
It was certainly welcome news that the Federal Coalition Government has made an election campaign promise for a further $20 million in the Scone Bypass project.
At the same time the NSW Minister for Roads and Freight, Duncan Gay, also committed an extra $10 million to help fast track the design and construction of the bypass.
Council will also seek to get these promises locked in.
Slow down in the rain
It has been wonderful to get all this rain, however it can make outside work on roads, bridge construction and park maintenance much more difficult for Council staff.
In particular I’d ask that when you see ‘road closed’ or diversion signs that you obey them.
Unfortunately some drivers just ignore safety warnings and drive around them. This is obviously dangerous for everyone on the road and particularly our staff.
Wherever you are driving please slow down because the roads are slippery and never drive into flooded crossings.
School Holidays
Council runs a number of school holiday activities which are listed in our ‘What’s On’ guide that include craft activities at the libraries, entertainment and excursions organised by our youth centres and games and sports.
The opening event of the holidays are the Aberdeen Highland Games on Saturday 2 July.
The Games are like Christmas in Aberdeen with festivities, costumes and music.
If you have never been, you are missing out and kids will love it.
Congratulations to all the organisers and volunteers, particularly President Charles Cooke on their final busy weeks.
Let the Games begin!
