After finishing third on the ladder, the Mustangs tackled Westlakes Wildcats at Raymond Terrace in the interdistrict minor semi-final last Saturday.
Despite battling wet and windy conditions, Scone led 1-0 at half-time and bagged a further three unanswered goals in a dominant second half performance to edge closer to a grand final appearance.
Meanwhile, Scone’s under-13s E grade outfit also played in the interdistrict competition but was unable to make the finals.
The 13s team played Edgeworth in its last game of the year, going down 3-1.
“We are really pleased with the results Scone FC’s two teams have achieved,” secretary Deanna Faulks said.
“Our under-15s coming third in B grade is a big achievement for a small town.
“And, while our 13s unfortunately didn’t make the finals, they played hard all season and made some great improvements.”
The Mustangs’ preliminary final clash with Kotara will kick off at 2pm at Nesbitt Park.
“Supporters are welcome and encouraged to cheer our team on as Kotara is lucky enough to be at home for this all important game,” Faulks added.
