The Scone Advocate asked each of the Upper Hunter Shire’s 13 candidates two questions to help residents to decide their vote.
The questions were:
- Why should Upper Hunter residents vote for you on September 10?
- What are you hoping to achieve/what are the issues that concern you most?
Here is Ron Campbell’s response:
Question 1: Since being elected to council in 2012 ,I have enjoyed the challenge of council representation. I look forward to being part of a forward thinking council where open constructive debate prevails by councillors that results in decisions being made that benefits all of our communities.
People have contacted me with their concerns and issues I have enjoyed being able to assist and support them to enable the best outcome to be achieved.
Question 2: There is much work to be done to improve our towns with the upgrade of facilities and amenities, promoting proper constructive development that will not only benefit the residents and users but also enhance each towns beautification. The four main towns now has a master plan that will assist in this process.
With over 1800 kilometres of road infrastructure, and 1200 kilometres of gravel surface our changed maintenance and gravel resheeting program needs to be continued and expanded. Our bridge replacement infrastructure needs to be continued.
The continued expansion of our tourism facilities with the Logos Come on Up.and Flock on up to encourage tourists to enjoy our beautiful scenic upper hunter.
I ask for your support to be able to continue and expand these programs that benefit all the residents of our shire. I respectfully ask for your No 1 vote.
