And, with special guests director Benjamin O’Donnell and producer/writer/director Ashleigh Hanley in attendance, another successful event was assured.
“Our visitors have always been very generous with their time,” Scone Films’ Catherine Boulton.
“Benjamin and Ashleigh were no different.
“They shared advice, spoke about their experiences, ways into the industry and other helpful tips.
“Benjamin is a producer of commercials and award-winning short films, being a Tropfest finalist.
“He is also series producer and co-director of television lifestyle show, Tasty Conversations, on GEM, which stars last year’s Australian Masterchef finalist, Audra Morrice.
“Ashleigh’s been writing and directing for 20 years, creating both short and feature-length films as well as TV pilots.
“As a writer, his scripts have won awards.
“So, it was a delight to have both of them here tonight.”
The short films included:
How Many More Doctors Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb? – One man’s faith in the medical profession is about to be “sorely” tested.
Fixed – Jemimah wants Tilly to have puppies at any cost.
Slingshot – Frankie is on summer vacation at a run-down trailer park. When Tayla, another 10-year-old, shows a romantic interest, Frankie’s holiday becomes a whole lot more complicated.
The Orchestra – In a world filled with beautiful music, Vernon always seems to strike the wrong note.
Death in Bloom – A “death” salesman struggles to close a deal with a refined and fabulously-difficult client.
The Trophy Thief – Ben, a young soccer player, believes that winning his team’s Most Valued Player trophy will solve his family problems.
Second Hand – A tender nudge reminds Harvey that the world is still revolving, with or without him.
The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock – Iskra is a Croatian refugee and has made her life one of ritual. However, it would seem that for Iskra, even love was not meant to be easy.
