A TOTAL of $35,000 has been donated to several local sporting groups in a bid to help improve facilities around town.
Scone Sporties decided to hand back 10 per cent of sales at its bar, with seven recipients set to benefit from the initiative.
The recipients, which were presented with $5000 each, included: Scone Athletics Club, Scone Touch Football Association, Scone Junior Rugby Union, Scone Junior Rugby League, Scone Swimming Club, Scone Junior Cricket Club, and Scone Football Club.
“This is the first year of distribution and it’ll help develop infrastructure and sporting facilities here,” Scone Sporties’ Michael Hollingsworth said.
“Hopefully it will allow everyone to participate in sport at facilities which are as good as a town of this size can possible get.”
Raffles will also be held at Scone Sporties this Friday, with all funds raised going to sporting groups.
Tickets will be on sale from 5.30pm.
