FUNDING of $1.469 million has been announced towards the construction of a $2 million all-weather recreation sports facility at Scone’s White Park.

Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said the NSW Government was providing the money through the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund (HIIF) to Upper Hunter Shire Council.
“I am thrilled to be able to announce funding for a much-needed all-weather equine sports facility in the Upper Hunter,” he said.
“This funding and planning process was started by me as a councillor and I am delighted to see it come to fruition.
“This will help attract even more events and spectators to the region, providing a boost to equine sports in the Upper Hunter and the local economy.
“This investment underscores the importance the NSW Government places on equine activities in the Hunter and in diversifying the regional economy.
“The facility will attract regional, state and national equine events and will also be available for community events.
“It will enhance tourism and provide top notch facilities for those travelling to the Hunter for equine sports.”
This stage of the White Park redevelopment includes:
* A massive 90m x 60m roof over an 80m x 40m riding arena
* Mobile terrace seating around all-weather riding arena
* New arena surface with subsurface drainage
* Rain water tanks and landscape irrigation system
