BLANDFORD Public School’s mixed relay team reached the final at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championship in Sydney.

After setting personal best records in several heats, the Blandford 4x100 PP5 representatives ran a time of 1.00.52 to qualify for the decider at Olympic Park, Homebush.
The final was eventually claimed by Tharbogang Public School, in the Riverina, which recorded a scorching effort of 57.43, while Blandford finished sixth in a time of 1.01.41.
Apart from Blandford, fellow Upper Hunter small school Ellerston also excelled at the event.
Competing in the PP6 relay, Ellerston narrowly missed out on a spot in the final.
Despite running a solid time of 1.05.81, the team finished its semi-final in fifth position, with winners Dundurrabin, from the Mid North Coast, going on to take out the final in 1.00.57.
The two Upper Hunter outfits were vying to qualify for the national championships.
This year’s Blandford team consisted of Jack Teague, Lachie Teague, Bridie Crowe and Millie Crowe, while Ellerston’s representatives were Sophie Baker and Jack, Cody and Blake Grimes.
